Tirupati Tirumala Darshan

                                  Tirumala Venkateswara Temple Tirupati_View
The world's second oldest rock mountain is the Tirumala hills. The prehistoric and blessed temple of Sri Venkateshwara is located on the seventh peak, Venkatachala of the Tirupati Hills, lies on the southern banks of Sri Swamu Pushkarani. The sangam literature of Tamil such as Silapadikam and Satanar's Manimekalai, dated between 500 BC to 300 AD, mentions Tiruvengadam(Tirupati) as the northernmost frontier of the Tamil kingdoms. He is also called the Lord of the Seven Hills.

The Sastras, Puranas, Sthala Mahatyams and Alwar hymns unambiguously decalre that, in the Kali-Yuga, one can attain mukti, only by worshipping Venkata Nayaka or Sri Venkateshwara. The temple of SriVenkateshwara has acquired unique purity in Indian religious wisdom.  The benefits acquired by a pilgrimage to Venkatachala are mentioned in the Rig Veda and Asthadasa Puranas. In these epics, Sri venkateshwara is described as the great bestowed of benefit. The temple has its origins in Vaishnavism, an ancient sect which advocates the principles of equality and love, and prohibits animal sacrifice.

The Seven peaks are called Seshadri, Vedadri, Garudadri, Anjandri, Vrishabhadri, Narayandri and Venkatadri. The Venkatam hill believed to be a part of the celestial mount Meru, brought to the earth from Vaikuntam by Garuda. The sacred temple of Sri Venkateshwara is located on the seventh peak, Venkatadri and there are several legends associated with manifestation of the lord in Tirumala.
